From Generation to Generation

Past, Present, and Future of YMTEach year the Youth Ministry Team gathers together young people from all over the world to live in community and to share their faith with the young people of our diocese.

Team members come from every continent as well as from within our own diocese and give generously of their time and service.

This summer was a very special one in YMT’s story as four generations of team members came together to work at the annual summer festival and the week long programme of Year 6 transition days.

This year’s team were joined by three former members from California, Ben Carter, Chris Gray and Jessica Corpstein as well as by Sarah Wilkinson and Maria Martindale from our own diocese.

Finally, four of the new YMT members all set for this September, joined the summer team: Fran O’Neill from Washington, Fran Duffy from Birtley, Hannah Detain from Hartlepool and Matthew Brannen from Billingham.

Bishop’s Inspection

Bishop Cunningham and Fr. DermottBuilders working on the new residential complex at the Youth Village were presently surprised last month when Bishop Seamus Cunningham arrived on site to inspect the exciting development.

Accompanied by Fr. Dermott Donnelly, the Bishop donned a hard safety helmet and toured the site of the four residential chalets which have stunning views across the Derwent Valley and will provide between them 55 ensuite twin rooms.

From the autumn, young people from across the diocese will be arriving for residential retreats at the Youth Village beginning an exciting new stage in our diocesan youth ministry.
