Recognising evangelisation as a process, the role of retreat coordinator was developed as part of the holistic approach undertaken to serve young people in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. Since its opening in September 2005, the Youth Village has proved extremely popular. YMT has already conducted a number of retreats, on numerous different themes, such as Advent, Confirmation, and the relevance of the Mass for young people; various groups from both schools and parishes within the Diocese have already enjoyed making use of the excellent facilities at the Village, and going deeper in their faith. The feedback to these days has been extremely positive, and many further day retreats are booked.

The retreats/follow-up aspect of YMT is built on the work put in by the Schools Team in the Diocesan schools. This enable young people to experience a retreat and to grow in their faith in an environment where they will feel comfortable and relaxed. YMT strongly believes that Retreats are a very important part of the faith journey of our young people and is essential to our work in evangelisation.

The Youth Village will soon be opening its residential centre and offer Retreats to schools and youth groups.   There are aslo opportunities for groups to use the facilities for specific purposes.
